Training for Ukrainian astro-educators in Stuposiany (Poland)
On August 26-28, 2021 within the framework of the project "Carpathian Starry Sky", implemented and co-financed under the Cross-Border Cooperation Program Poland-Belarus-Ukraine 2014-2020, on the basis of the grant contract (project №PLBU.01.02-00-UA-0809/19 -00) between the Ministry of Funds and Regional Policy of the Republic of Poland and the NGO "Institute of Development of the Carpathian Region", the 3 days (2 astro-nights) training for 10 involved educators of the Transcarpathian Dark-Sky Park took place.The training was held by the Polish project experts for nature, light pollution and astro-tourism in order to present the best practices of astro-education, used in the Bieszczady Starry Sky Park in Stuposiany (Poland).
The trainings were devoted to the use of astronomical equipment for astro and nature observations, astro-photography. Ukrainian astroeducators gained practical skills and theoretical knowledge of working with equipment. Astronomical and photo equipment, purchased within the project, was used for training. Polish partners shared valuable experience of organizing the astroshows, told about the peculiarities of such events. Participants gained information about light pollution problem, astronomy and night nature. An excursion to the Bieszczady National Park was also organized as part of the event.
Astro-educators were provided with educational materials including a rotating sky map, astronomical calendar and a manual on astronomical observations. Upon completion of the training, participants also received training certificates from the Association for Innovation and Technology Transfer "Horizons".
